Thursday, December 6th, 6-8:30pm

Dreaming of a warm-weather escape on your bike? Curious about the Baja Divide or touring in Mexico? Winter is a great time to visit Baja and escape the throes of Portland weather. But the logistics of traveling with your bike, resupplying, sourcing water and fuel, cooking and camping in a foreign country require a bit more knowledge and planning. Join us for a presentation and social Q&A with folks who’ve toured in Baja. From “Type 2 Fun” multi-week bugout trips to week-long “Tacos & Beaches” vacation, we’ve assembled a panel of riders whose experiences are wide-ranging, and they’re eager to answer your questions and share their stories.

We at Golden Pliers acknowledge the tremendous privilege at being able to cross our southern border fluidly and safely, all in the name of vacation. With this in mind, we’re suggesting a door fee starting at $5+. All proceeds will be donated to Border Angels.

Border Angels is an all volunteer, non profit organisation that advocates for human rights, humane immigration reform, and social justice with a special focus on issues related to issues related to the US-Mexican border. Border Angels engages in community education and awareness programs that include guided trips to the desert to place water along migrant crossing routes as well as to the border to learn about the history of US-Mexico border policy and experience the border fence firsthand.

Border Angels also works to serve San Diego County’s immigrant population through various migrant outreach programs such as Day Laborer outreach and our free legal assistance program held in our office every Tuesday. Border Angels works to dispel the various myths surrounding immigration in the United States and to bring back truth and justice.

Snacks and drinks will be available for purchase at the event. Seating is limited, so reserving your place is recommended!
